Throughout my Lush journey, I have fallen in love with the versatility of the shower jellies and so was very excited when it was announced that there would be a new one for Halloween.

Nightwing, as a friend of mine informs me, is the hero that the original Robin became after he left being partners with Batman and moved to the city of Bludhaven and so it is easy to see where Lush have drawn inspiration from. As a tribute to the Batman theme and the holiday that it has been released for, it is jet black and in the shape of a bat.

It has a very beautiful aroma and there was a lot of fan speculation that it would have the scent of Calacas but this was proved to be wrong and although they do have a very similar scent, the only way I can describe the difference is that Calacas is the fruit pastille/ jelly bean and Nightwing is the wine gum which offers a slightly more sophisticated citrus scent.

Unfortunately, although it is extremely potent in the tub, I found that in the shower and after you've toweled off, the scent is barely there and so it is actually one of the weakest shower jelly I've had from lush. Also due to the design, it would probably be easier to cut it up before you use it in the shower as it gets even more slippery and slimey than the usual shower jellies, thus making it hard to use on yourself without it slipping out of your hands. I also found that when I put a sliver on my shower puff, it didn't create that many suds and they were an unattractive grey colour.

I think that this is a very good novelty product from Lush but I won't be stocking up on it to see my through the year. I also found that I had to rinse some excess liquid out of my tub as it leaked in my bag which is something that I've found has happened quite a few times with the Lush shower jellies at the moment.

I cannot even begin to describe my love of this shower jelly. This lemon scented bundle of goodness is perfect after a hard days work in the summer sun.

Lush have created shower jellies as an alternative to shower gels and I find them much easier to transport than the shower gels which have a risk of spilling or leaking. The main base of the jellies is mineral rich carrageenan extract which comes from seaweed and works as a moisturising agent in the jellies. They can be used in a variety of ways; you can rub them directly on to your body or you can put a small amount on a shower pouf which creates a lather to wash with. I prefer using a shower pouf and getting loads of bubbles to wash with. I also find that the scent lingers better that way. It is also great to use as a shampoo and although it doesn't lather up in quite the same way as a shampoo would, my hair felt incredibly soft afterwards and combined with Veganese conditioner, I was smelling like lemons all day long!

Lush suggest popping them in the freezer or fridge for a refreshing shower as Lush explains: "Alternating hot and cold whilst washing is a bathing practice that has a far-reaching history into countries from Scandinavia to Japan. Hot water is fantastic at opening the pores and cleansing deeply, but it can strip the skin of its useful natural oils. A rush of cold water meanwhile sends blood pumping to the surface, increasing blood circulation and stimulating the capillary beds. Mixing the two temperatures creates a powerful blend of ice and fire that leaves you energised and clean."

Although I purchased a shower jelly from the Kitchen back in April, I never really got the hang of it and stopped using it but this little beauty has refuelled my love for them. This is also due to the scent which is phenomenal, reminiscent of a sweet lemon drizzle cake and similar to the Slammer shower gel that was released in the Kitchen last week, although that is slightly more lime scented.

I am so glad that Refresher has come out to normal stores as it is one of the best products to come out of Oxford street in my opinion!
